The USB2000-FLG is a high-sensitivity spectrofluorometer that is preconfigured for fluorescence applications from 380-1050 nm.
We utilize a proprietary thin film technology and a time-gated spectrometer to provide a spectrofluorometer that is 20 percent more sensitive than the standard USB2000 Spectrometer. The USB2000-FLG is available for.

AgPlus Mirrors
We replaced our standard mirrors with our proprietary AgPlus Ag-coated mirrors to increase reflectance, which in turn increases the sensitivity of the spectrometer by 10-35% percent. Not only do these mirrors create a more sensitive spectrometer, they also absorb nearly all UV light, virtually eliminating the excitation source's spectra from interfering with the sample spectra. Pairs of AgPlus mirrors (item SAG+UPG) are available for $250.
Gated Phosphorescence Mode
The USB2000-FLG is preloaded with variable-delay gating microcode, which allows you to select a delay (from 5-500 microseconds) between the light turning on and the start of the spectrometer's integration time, or the amount of time the detector "sees" the sample. In this mode, the spectrometer only detects the sample light when the source is off. However, in order to use the gated phosphorescence mode, your fluorophore must have a long fluorescence lifetime. Those working with lanthanides and phosphorescent materials will find the gated phosphorescence mode particularly useful.
L2 Detector Collection Lens
The USB2000-FLG's detector window is fitted with an L2 Detector Collection Lens. This cylindrical lens increases the spectrometer's light-collection efficiency and reduces stray light. The L2 is especially useful with a large-diameter fiber for low light-level applications.
Accessory Filters
The USB2000-FLG can be used with our LVF-series Linear Variable Filters to construct systems with excellent separation of excitation and fluorescence energy. Use our LVF-L Linear Variable Low-pass Filter to fine tune your excitation source for maximum signal with minimum overlap; and/or use our LVF-H Linear Variable High-pass Filter on the detection side. Inline holders and cuvette fixtures make deployment of these filters easy.
Applications
The USB2000-FLG can detect fluorophores in liquids and powders, and from surfaces. We use the USB2000-FLG in our EDS2000 System to detect anthrax. The USB2000-FLG is field-portable -- use it to detect fluorescence in coral, fruit and other flora and fauna.
USB2000-FLG Sample Spectra
This graph shows the fluorescence of nanomolar (nM) concentrations of fluorescein. We made the measurements with a USB2000-FLG, an LS-450 Blue LED Light Source, a CUV-ALL and an LVF-L Low-pass Filter to limit the blue LED to < 475 nm. We set the integration time to 100 msec. Longer integration times allow the system to detect fluoroscein in the picomolar range.
